Directions

To make one diabetes ribbon you will need the following supplies:

6" of ½' or 5/8' wide gray ribbon
6" of thin silver cording (usually kept by the embroidery floss or with jewelry making supplies)
1 red gem either round or tear drop shaped
1 mini safety pin
hot glue gun and/or fabric glue

If you are making more than one simply multiply the lengths by however many ribbons you would like to make and then cut 6" strips.

1.    Cut 6" strips of the ribbon and cording both.

2.    Lay the ribbon out flat and using either a glue gun or fabric glue put a bead of glue down the middle of the ribbon and place the silver cording on the glue. (We found that the fabric glue worked best for this step).

3.    Allow time for this to dry (hot glue about 2 minutes, fabric glue follow manufacturers instructions).

4.    Fold the ribbon and cording, now glued together, in half and trim the ends to about a 45° angle.

5.    Twist the ribbon so that it is in the final shape.

6.    Lift the top layer of ribbon and place a dot of hot glue or fabric glue on the underside and hold the two pieces together for a few moments (hot glue held better in this step).

7.    Allow time for the ribbon to dry again.

8.    Use either hot glue or fabric glue to place the red gem in the center of the overlapped pieces of ribbon (hot glue worked best in this step).

9.    Allow the glue to dry yet again.

10. Place the pin at the top of the ribbon and give to a friend.
