Diabetes Awareness Ribbons
Wear your gray ribbon with pride. |
The gray ribbon campaign for diabetes started as a grass roots effort to raise awareness of diabetes and help find a cure. When we heard about it we decided the ribbons were not very pretty as they were so we changed the design a bit.
The reason for the gray or silver color of the original ribbons was because it is often said that every dark cloud (diabetes) has a silver lining (a cure). We decided to combine the two and you can see the result above. The red dot represents the millions of drops of blood diabetics worldwide use every day to check their blood sugar levels.
We originally made the ribbons and shared them with friends and family during November (diabetes awareness month). They were extremely popular so we offered them to an
online support group we are part of. Everyone loved them so we decided to offer them to the world.Feel free to make your own ribbons
(see directions) .
